The story behind tcc
“I knew tennis was more than just a
– Terry, President
sport to me – it was a community”

A Word from our founder
Terry Redvers
From the moment I first picked up a racquet as a teenager, I knew tennis was more than just a sport to me – it was a community. I fell in love with the game and soon began coaching. Every court I taught on brought me closer to people, their stories, and a shared passion that stayed with me long after the lessons ended. At the time, access to tennis, especially year-round, was limited. I saw an opportunity to create something more than just a space to play: welcoming, affordable spaces where anyone could belong, connect, and play year-round.
After graduating in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo in 1974, I knew I wanted to stay in tennis. By 1976, I was running the tennis program in Etobicoke with over 30 instructors and 3,000 participants. The sport was booming, and I was teaching over 50 hours a week. I loved it, but I wanted to do more than just teach. I wanted to build something of my own.
I approached the Town of Newmarket with a vision for a year-round tennis facility on public courts. I called Ralph Farley, the only dome builder in Canada at the time, and together we pitched the idea. Soon after, the first dome went up. It was only three courts, but it was full of life. I ran that club for 45 years.
Since then, what started as one small dome has grown into a family of clubs across Ontario, with new projects now underway across the country. But our purpose has never changed. At Tennis Clubs of Canada, it has always been about people, about building places where friendships are made, families come together, and a love for the game that continues all year long.
That is what matters most to me, and it always will.
Words from the CEO
Adam Seigel
At Tennis Clubs of Canada, our story is rooted in a deep love for the game of tennis and the vibrant communities it brings together. We believe tennis, as well as pickleball, have the power to enrich lives—not just physically, but socially and mentally—and our purpose is to make that impact felt in every corner of the country.
With a pioneering spirit, we strive to create players for life by offering accessible, affordable tennis programs for all ages and skill levels. From first-time players to professional players, there’s something here for everyone. We build more than just skills—we build relationships and a sense of belonging, creating welcoming spaces where connections grow both on and off the court.
As we continue to expand across Canada, our goal remains the same: to provide year-round tennis that’s inclusive, joyful, and rooted in community.
